SCIENTIFIC SCHOOL DEPARTMENT OF CONTROL DEVICES AND SYSTEMS aircraft Faculty of Aviation and Space Systems NTUU "KPI"

Faculty of Aviation and Space Systems for research and innovation results of last year ranked among the highest in our university. A significant contribution is made by the Department of devices control systems aircraft, led by docent V.G. Lukomskyy. The department is integrated with scientific innovation, educational-methodical, international, organizational work and training specialists in modern technical specialties:

- "Aviation and space-rocket equipment" (planes and helicopters) - Aerodynamics and automatic designing objects of aerospace engineering;

- "Avionics" (aircraft and aircraft complexes control systems) - Development of digital control systems, navigation and orientation of moving objects.

Main areas of research, which involved students are actively associated with the construction of small manned and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs); development and study of micro- and nano-satellites; development of adaptive and robust control system aircraft, integrated (inertial and satellite) navigation systems; creation algorithms using geographic information systems (GIS) for aircraft control tasks; development of navigation sensors and systems based on the latest physical principles; automation of designing and testing facilities of aviation and space technology; control and navigation systems based on machine vision (computer vision); robotics systems.

At the department setting up and operating modern laboratories and engineering bureaus:

- Computer classroom TEMPUS for the design of electronic circuits and systems automation 3-D modeling;

- Laboratory of GIS technologies company Jeppesen / Boeing;

- Laboratory TEMPUS of machine-tool construction and the station of communication of microsatellites;

- Student Design Bureau and light aircraft navigation equipment.

Work on the scientific direction of the department headed by professionals, scientists, transmitting their knowledge and experience to students and graduate students. So professor V.V.Sukhov, head of the creation and container launch UAV and electrolyte surface which wings is a solar battery. Work professor Lemko O.L. associated with aircraft design scheme "flying wing". Work docent Zinchenko D.N. associated with the UAV unconventional schemes: with bearing surfaces and closed type, with inflatable wing. Great interest of students causing the development of  senior teacher V.B. Kolesnichenko, who created a number of aircraft, including UAVs "Bird" - the largest in the Faculty of UAV take-off mass of 65 kg and wingspan of 5 meters.

 These teachers with their developments have created scientific school of designing unmanned aircraft in our university, whose foundations were laid in 1993 for the creation of initiatives docent and now head of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics V.M.Fedorova student’s design bureau of light aircraft and airborne equipment. Today the supervisor of the design bureau is professor Sukhov V.V. The results of this design bureau is creating and testing 10 types of UAVs. Depending on the payload and purpose of use of UAVs have the following characteristics: takeoff weight - 5 ... 100 kg; payload - 1,5 ... 60 kg; flight duration - 0,5 ... 6 hours; speed - 50 ... 320 km/h; takeoff from the hands, from the catapult, like an  airplane; landing – like an airplane, with the parachute, on the cable; engine type - petrol or electric; length takeoff strips - 25 ... 45 m; the length of the landing strip - 20 ... 35 m.

It should be noted that the creation of unmanned air and ground robotic systems is a priority area of research. In Fig. 1 shows the UAV "FASS-8 Pegasus -E" with an electric motor, as in Fig. 2 - UAV FAKS-9 SkyBow-G with an internal combustion engine and their basic characteristics.

Many graduates of the department work successfully towards to the famous aviation enterprises, including "Antonov" Special Design Bureau "Luch", private air companies (LLC "Aeros", LLC "Aeroprakt" airline "Chayka"). Students and graduate students are actively involved in innovative projects and approaches that allow them to learn and professionalism except provadzhuvaty their development. One of these projects is the festival of innovation "SikorskyChellenge", which involved a graduate student and then a young lecturer R.Karnaushenko brought glory not only to the party itself, but also the department, the faculty and the university as a whole - its development, implementation ideas and approaches which were produced in the student KB, brought to mass production at JSC "Meridian" and adopted for weapons parts Armed forces of Ukraine in the area ATO.

The main part of any robotic complex, including air and ground, is a navigation system and control system. This direction of research department, founded by professor M.A.Pavlovskyy essentially began in 1993 as the foundation for the creation of the department. Today this area effectively and successfully developed many teachers. Docent Prohorchuk O.V. working to create navigation and guidance systems, docent Burnashev V.V. dealing with automatic traffic control facilities for different purposes. Professor Zbrutsky O.V., docent Chernyak M.G., docent Balabanov I.V., docent Apostolyuk V.A., docent Bondarenko O.M., docent  Bondarenko Y.A., docent Marinich Y.M. created several classes of navigation sensors of the new generation, which built modern navigation and control systems. Many of their developments introduced into production and are awarded prizes in science and technology.

Actively working of these new research directions department staff: professors Shkvar E.O., Kolot O.V., docent Zinchenko D.M., senior lecturer Bondar Y.I., Borisov V.V. senior reseacher Bytsenko O.V.

Students and graduate students with internship opportunities at European universities through international mobility programs, which actively participates Department PSKLA, including European educational projects ERASMUS-EWENT and ERASMUS-ACTIVE.

The department has student mobility program with partner universities in Europe and China. Our partner universities: Warsaw University (Poland); Central School of Nantes (France); University of the Basque Country (Spain); Trent University (Italy); Czech Technical University (Czech Republic); Budapest University of Technical and Economic Sciences (Hungary); Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland); University of Southampton (UK); Technical University of Stuttgart (Germany); Technical University of Berlin (Germany); Northwestern Polytechnic University (China); Dalyanskyy Maritime University (China) and others.

In 2015 department became a member the program TEMPUS-NETCENG to introduce European doctoral program in engineering (PhD). Our graduate students can obtain degrees at leading European universities Programme of the European Union, to which is the Department PSKLA.

Every year students of the department participate and win prizes in competitions in the different disciplines.

Graduates are researchers, engineers, designers and programmers in the creation and operation of modern rocket-space and aviation technology, electronic technology and automated systems, electronic cartography and others. the leading Ukrainian, including the State Enterprise "Antonov" Scientific-Production Association "Kyivprylad" State enterprise special instrument "Arsenal" State Enterprise Bureau "Luch", JSC "Kyiv plant Radar", JSC "Meridian", State joint-stock holding company "Artem" institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Many specialists of different levels - from engineers to doctors of philosophy - trained at the department for other countries: China, India, Vietnam, Turkey, Algeria, Iran.

So, the Department PSKLA that provides high-quality educational services and conducts advanced research and innovation work, invites applicants for training and interested organizations - to cooperate!
